It’s pretty obvious by now that I’m what I like to call, a dress-o-holic. That’s not even a word but it definitely should be, I think. Here’s how I work: when I stumble across a new website, whether it be a big company or a small boutique, the first place I browse is the dresses. When I check in on my favorite shops throughout the week, the first new arrivals I want to see are the dresses. It’s honestly the “make it or break it” category for me in that if I don’t see anything that catches my eye, I don’t even bother with the rest of the site. It seems completely logical to me but to others, it’s a little nutso.
I even have memories as a little girl of always wanting to be in a dress. It didn’t matter that I already had to wear a dress every day to Catholic school and it also didn’t matter where we were going or what we were doing, I always wanted to wear a dress! For birthdays and Christmas, the top gift requests from me were always new dresses! Clearly this love affair and I go way back. And while Ava is such a girly girl all on her own, she has already started mimicking me when it comes to her clothes. This little lovey wants to wear “a dress with straps” every single day of the week. Whew, my awesome husband sure has his work cut out for him!! When we decide to grow this little family, he is surely hoping for a baby boy to help him out with all things manly in our household!
So, here’s a dress that found its way home with me from Anthropologie. The cut of this maxi dress is incredible and I kind of wish ALL my maxi dresses had a wrap like feature in the front. This dress has that faux wrap, or flap in the front is perfect for…walking! Often maxi dresses don’t come with an slits or openings in the legs and it can make walking gracefully a bit tricky. This dress has the length I wanted but allows you to move easily without having to shorten your steps. Brilliance. I also love the overall neutral color of this dress and when you add in the bright coral and grey, everything just seems to come together so nicely. I have given this sweet little beaded foldover clutch from Banana Republic new life recently and it just reaffirms my belief in holding onto the things you really love in your closet. Sure, things will go unused at times but I would rather save than sell or toss and regret later. I should also mention that I only bought it in the past year or so, but rarely ever do I sell bags no matter how long I’ve had them. I sold my first few this past year and I still have pangs of regret. #neveragain
I wanted to keep this dress more on the casual side, so my favorite wedge of summer ’13 made another appearance. I still love them a ridiculous amount so any opportunity I get to wear them, you can be sure I will. Cute and comfortable gets my vote any day!
