It’s good to be a girl, right?! Because, really, finding ways to express yourself are practically endless and, for me, being fortunate enough to find ways to channel my stylish energy into this small .com has been one of my best decisions ever. I’m also so thankful for my awesome husband who supports each and everything that I do, without question. When I started my blog just a little over a year ago, never have I ever jumped int0 something so blindly not knowing what to expect, how it would be received, or even if I was going to enjoy maintaining it. It was literally a leap of faith that I took and never looked back.
So, here we are one year later, I’m still here…and I love it. I love everything about it! I love it so much, I’ve debated leaving my full time job come the end of the school year and devoting all of my energy to this little project that I single handedly created on my own. While I still consider myself a “very little fish in a big sea”, I’m going to be honest in saying that I’m really proud of myself. (It’s okay…you can say such things to yourself, too!) I’ve burned so much midnight oil I don’t even remember what a good night of sleep even feels like anymore. Why? Because I’m genuinely happy working on something that I’ve always loved and when you’re passionate enough, it never feels like work.
I know. Where am I going with this? Well, it’s a much overdue “thank you”. Thank you to the kind and supportive women out there who choose to raise each other up instead of tearing each other down. Thank you to those who visit my page and leave feeling inspired by what I had to offer. Thank you to those who have showed encouragement and took the time to comment when they found something they loved. It’s really you who make me feel excited and appreciated when I post something new. I’m certainly not perfect…and could never claim to be. I have fears and insecurities just like everyone else. While I could dwell on the negatives, I chose to look for my best in me and be as positive as possible. Life is too good to be anything else!
It’s funny, being a Kindergarten teacher, I often find myself looking for those “teachable moments” where I can teach my little 5-year old buddies life long lessons. And while a big part of my job is to prepare them in both Math and Literacy, I also know that teaching them to be kind, considerate, loving, and compassionate to others is equally (if not more…) important. I try to remind myself of this each day and even instill the same values in my own 5 year old. It’s so simple but so often forgotten, “Treat others as you would like to be treated.”
But at the end of the day, I’m grateful and I’m blessed.
I really need to find other ways to say “thank you” but sometimes, that’s really just enough. Thank you, thank you to those of you who visit me each day. Your support is forever appreciated.
