Oh, how I love a nautical stripe! Just a heads up, this isn’t the first time you’ll be seeing some navy and white stripes on my blog as I have quiet a few pieces of this pattern hanging in my closet. There is something so summery about nautical strips and I can’t ever seem to get enough. Just this past week I picked up another striped skirt from Banana Republic that I would normally wait to share until I had a post prepared, but ladies, it’s on supa-sale. That’s the kind of information that needs to be screamed from the mountain tops! It’s marked down and if you find your size in a local store, it’s also an additional 30% off. Run, don’t walk, and grab one! (Or two, like me…) I’ll show you how I wear them next week!
If you haven’t discovered the J.Crew City Mini you’re a tad late to this party but no worries, there’s plenty to go around. Let me go ahead and tell you why this skirt is so fabulous: It’s got an elastic waist, win, and it flatters most, if not all figures. It manages to maintain a slim shape but with the elastic waist and billowy drop, you can hide preeeetty much any winter weight you’re still trying to drop. (Guilty.) I tend to wear my skirt higher up at my natural waist line and not my hips so that it hugs my body at the slimmest part. Hello, hourglass! It also makes my short legs appear just a tad longer, which I love. You can find my striped skirt at J.Crew and the linen versions at both J.Crew and factory. (Factory is a linen/cotton blend and J.Crew is solely linen.) Keep in mind, the cotton striped skirt at J.Crew is also much more lightweight than the linen skirts. I also know that the skirt from Factory is a little bit thicker and dry clean only. Unless you’re an expert laundress, keep that in mind when purchasing. I once thought I could do as the dry cleaner does and threw 4 wool sweaters in the bathtub to save myself a few bucks. Oh, how quickly I learned that it says “dry clean only” for a reason. Looking back now, I should have saved those sweaters for Ava as they probably would have fit her last year.
Annnyway, if you caught my post from yesterday, one of my favorite Kate Spade bags ever and matching sandals made yet another appearance. Oh, how I love them so! Cognac leather matches everything, girls. EVERYTHING. Black, brown, and every other color in the rainbow. Bottom line, if you’re trying to decide if you need a black bag or a brown one, go cognac and never look back. Your accessory closet will thank you!
I’ll skip out by saying that I finally have a website that doesn’t go all wonky when you open it on a mobile device. Phew! That was driving me batty. Thanks to the techie genius who put me on hold at GoDaddy and pretty much just fixed the problem himself. I think after my 7th, “wait, what? click where?”, he took matters into his own hands and fixed this (probably very minor…) issue on his own. It’s cool. He knows computers, I know shoes. He can shine in his world and I’ll shine in mine…
