Whether you’re in the best shape of your life or you feel more comfortable covering up, I am having a major one-piece moment. There are so many flattering options out there for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes so they can feel confident when finally putting on that bathing suit this season. I’ve SCOURED the internet searching for a few of my top picks this year for a new bathing suit. While we all have different tastes, I found three suits to share with a complimenting cover-up to wear along with them when I attempt to embrace the heat that is a Las Vegas summer. Phew! While I can be physically prepared for this, my mental preparation is simply not there yet. This Northeast Girl loves her a mild summer.
All I can say is, pray for me!
As I continue to post my looks and wish lists each day, I think you’ll start to realize that I always head in a direction towards simplicity. I love pieces that are timeless. I love colors that compliment, crisp whites, neutrals, and dressing for the season. When the days start to feel like spring and summer, I look to wear fresh spring green, navy blue, bright coral, light yellow, and the whitest of whites. It’s my own way of saying goodbye to fall and winter, and hello to long and hot summer days ahead.
We all know that I’m anti-sun, but this girl has been going to the New Jersey shore every summer since she was a baby. Just because I prefer to walk around with an umbrella over my head when there isn’t a cloud in the sky doesn’t mean I will leave family traditions in the past! Now that I’m all grown up and responsible, I just do everything I can to make sure my skin is protected. This usually means buckets full of sunscreen so thick I may as well just put my clothes back on and head inside. This also means large sun hats and lightweight cover-ups. You’ll also find me under the largest cabana ever, just in case one of the previous fails me. I’m actually serious…
Below I’ve put together 3 options that I’m debating for upcoming beach and pool days. Now, while I love a great deal…I tend to invest in things like a bathing suit each year. A quality suit will last longer, wash better, and is probably UVA, UVB protected. Some things are worth a deal while others are worth the few extra bucks. If you know of a great deal to find a quality bathing suit, leave me a comment below!
I ADORE this striped tube bathing suit! It’s slightly blousy above the cinched waist that’s tied up with a navy string bow. I mean, I feel like someone read my mind with this suit. It’s perfection. Seeing how I LOVE navy and green together, this lightweight cover up from J.Crew fit the bill perfectly. I’ve used this straw bag here and in a post below simply because a tote like this is so versatile in the summer. You can use it for days out, days at the beach, or a casual night out. I’m always looking for a large hat to protect my face without always resorting to a baseball cap…which I think would also be just as cute, btw. Sunglasses? Of course. Sometimes I feel like the sun in Vegas is in competition with itself because with each passing day, I think it’s brighter than the last.
I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the ruffle detail on the top of this suit. I pink, puffy heart ruffles on just about everything. They’re so feminine and girly and can so easily and a little something extra to your look. The embroidered tunic cover up has a fun rope tie detail around the collar that can be opened up or closed depending on your taste. And while Rainbow sandals aren’t the fanciest, they are the most comfortable and last years…and years….and years. Trust. I have a pair that just turned 5!
Finally, this JCrew rouched one piece has all the makings of a well cut, well made bathing suit. I have a few in my draw that have seen many walks to the beach and they’re still holding on strong. This suit has a detachable halter strap, which I love, and rouching down the mid section to hide any pesky pounds that just won’t seem to take the hint and disappear. Annnnyway, I am mildly obsessed with this sweet eyelet romper that has just enough small cut-outs to show whichever color suit you chose to put underneath it. Accessories optional, but in this case I think less is more. This mama doesn’t wear jewelry or high heels to the beach…but to each her own!
Have a great weekend, friends! I’m oh-so-thankful you spent another week checking in with me! TGIF, indeed!
The Thunderbird spouses are bringing their A-Game to the CRUD tournament tonight! Non-military folk? You may want to YouTube this fun, yet physical, game to see what it’s all about. This way when you see strange bruises on my legs in pictures next week, you’ll know the story behind them. Team T-Birds for the win!
Leave Love!
